BOPE and its potential for the packaging sector

Fourth edition of our Sustainability TV format

Today’s topic is widely debated within the plastics and packaging industry: Mono-material packaging made of BOPE film. BOPE can offer solutions by utilizing its available recycling stream. However, the supply chain is not yet fully exploiting the potential of this new player.

In this episode of our TV format, we hear voices from across the industry on the various solution scenarios.

Part 1: Which came first: chicken or egg?

In the first part of this episode, we hear from raw material manufacturers and film producers. From their point of view, BOPE is not something completely new - applications already exist. But there's more to it than that.

So dive in and find out what the following industry experts had to say:

    • Owen Lightbody, Team Leader, Consumer and Industrial Films at NOVA Chemicals Corporation, Canada
    • Dr. Johannes Klitsch, Manager Technical Service and Development at LG Chem Europe, Germany
    • Erik Sosa, Technical Director at oben Group, Peru
    • Steven Shi, General Manager of Overseas Sales at Forop Advanced Materials, China
    • Özgür Çertuğ, General Manager at Polibak Plastik Film, Turkey
    • Rafael Bayona, Director of R&D, QA and Technology at Inteplast Group, USA
    • Milena Faik, ACCA, Manager Financial Efficiency, Member of Managing Board at Plastchim-T, Bulgaria
    • Sambhav Oswal, Managing Director at Nahar Poly Films, India

Part 2: Let's hear from converters and brand owners

After raw material manufacturers and film producers, it is now time to hear the voices of converters and brand owners. This gives us a complete 360° view of the industry.

In the second part of this episode, we are delighted to welcome the following experts from the industry:

    • Dr. Dietmar Lenko, Head of Group Technical Innovation at Constantia Flexibles International, Austria
    • Dirk Stolte, Head of R&D at ppg > fast. fresh. flexible., Germany
    • Daniela González, Packaging Sustainability Initiative Leader at General Mills San Adrian, Spain
    • Julia Lettner, Packaging Management at SPAR, Austria
    • Tim Sykes, Brand Director at Packaging Europe, UK
